Im offiziellen Forum hat sich Mike Laidlaw ausführlich der Kritik an Dragon Age 2 gestellt und zugleich Hinweise für die weitere Entwicklung von Dragon Age gegeben.
Laidlaw stellt fest, dass man sich der kritischen Punkte in Bezug auf Dragon Age 2 bewusst ist und gewillt, diese zukünftig zu verbessern. Er nennt das Level-Recycling, die immer neuen gegnerischen Angriffswellen, und die Schwierigkeiten mit Erzählstil und den Entscheidungen im Spiel.

Dennoch ist das nicht als vollkommene Abkehr von Dragon Age 2 zu verstehen, denn Laidlaw unterstreicht, dass er auf die Leistung des Teams stolz ist und denkt, Dragon Age als Serie eine bessere Zukunft ermöglicht zu haben.

I know many are advocating a "it wasn't broke, why did you try to fix it?" stance, and I absolutely understand why. Dragon Age 2 sei der Versuch gewesen, Hawkes Geschichte auf neue innovative Weise zu erzählen. Darauf sei man bei Bioware stolz, habe aber auch aus den Fehlern für die Zukunft gelernt.
